Job Overview

The Plaza Assisted Living is seeking a dedicated Float Director of Nursing (FDON) to enhance our nursing management team.

This pivotal role involves supporting nursing operations across various Plaza communities, ensuring that our residents receive the highest quality of care. The FDON will also serve as a vital resource in the absence of nursing leadership, collaborating closely with the Director of Quality Assurance to uphold compliance and operational excellence within the nursing department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be available on-call twenty-four (24) hours a day for assigned communities, providing support to the Director of Nursing (DON) or Administrator as needed.
  • Conduct thorough assessments for each resident prior to admission and every six months thereafter, ensuring their care needs are adequately met.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Resident Service Plans, facilitating effective communication among residents, families, and staff.
  • Manage the care of residents outside the facility, including hospital or rehabilitation stays, ensuring timely assessments and readmissions.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of care delivery in accordance with federal regulations, state laws, and Plaza policies, while monitoring compliance through electronic medical records.
  • Assist in evaluating residents' nutritional needs, conducting quality checks, and coordinating with Registered Dieticians as necessary.
  • Perform regular rounds to assess the efficiency of care delivery, engaging with staff, residents, and families to gather feedback.
  • Supervise the Medication Management Program, ensuring proper administration and documentation of medications by nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention initiatives, including immunization protocols and infection control measures.
  • Review and address community Incident Reports, contributing to resolution and prevention strategies.
  • Participate in the management of the nursing department, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Organize and facilitate necessary training for nursing staff, focusing on safety and compliance.
  • Maintain budgetary oversight for supplies and staffing in alignment with community needs.
  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of a Quality Assurance Program, working alongside the Director of Quality Assurance and other departmental leaders.
  • Promote exceptional customer service and address any concerns raised by residents or families regarding nursing services.
  • Be present during inspections by internal, third-party, and state officials, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Familiarize oneself with disaster and emergency procedures, assisting as needed during community emergencies.
  • Adhere to all employment policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the community Administrator or direct supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Current State of Hawaii Nursing License (RN or higher) in good standing.
  • Current Tuberculosis Clearance in accordance with state health regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Director of Nursing role within similar communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in an assisted living or long-term care setting.

Starting salary is $90,000 per year, negotiable based on prior experience.
