Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex level work in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting chiller systems within WCPSS.
  • Provide technical specialist experience in the monitoring of construction and installation of new and replacement chillers at all school facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to less skilled employees and assist in the training of employees.
  • Ensure chillers are performing at their optimal efficiency.
  • Respond to assigned work orders relating to chillers; troubleshoot and ensure that the appropriate corrective measures are performed to provide a solution.
  • Replace faulty or defective chiller equipment and systems.
  • Prepare and maintain records, work logs, and reports, as needed.
  • Adhere to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the WCPSS safety procedures/policies.
  • Maintain compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ten years of experience directly related to chillers and associated systems installation and repair.
  • Experience in servicing chiller systems, including software updates.
  • Experience with multiple chiller manufacturers.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hold a valid HVAC and Refrigeration License determined by the North Carolina Board of HVAC Examiners.
  • Associates Degree or technical school training in HVAC Systems.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This job operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to seventy-five pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment. Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.
