Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Automation Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the seamless operation of the production environment by ensuring that all automation systems are functioning optimally.

Qualifications & Skills:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates should have a strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn about injection molding machinery, assembly workflows, auxiliary systems, decorating machinery, robotic systems, and other automation technologies. Enrollment in or completion of a Maintenance Apprenticeship Program is expected. Personal tools are necessary for job performance. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Basic computer proficiency is required. The ability to troubleshoot intricate servo-driven systems, vacuum circuits, and to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics as well as mechanical diagrams is crucial. Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:


• Diagnose and resolve issues with complex servo-driven systems, vacuum circuits, and machinery using digital multi-meters and relevant documentation, including mechanical diagrams and schematics.

• Maintain and enhance the functionality of all existing automation systems.

• Support production launches and transitions related to automation systems, which may involve leveling and aligning automation and robotic components, centering mechanical parts, relocating automation setups, adjusting stroke parameters, and swapping robotic heads and associated components.

• Learn to initiate automation processes, adjust movement axis points, and implement minor programming modifications on various robotic and automation equipment.

• Handle the replacement or repair of mechanical and electrical components as necessary.

• Collaborate with engineering and other departments to facilitate the implementation and installation of new projects.
