Job Title: Global Trade Compliance Specialist
Job Summary:
The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining the company's global trade compliance program. This includes ensuring compliance with export control regulations, developing and implementing import/export procedures, and minimizing risks to the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement global trade compliance procedures to minimize risks to the company.
- Ensure compliance with export control regulations, including US export classifications and import (HTS) codes.
- Develop and maintain internal training programs relating to international trade, including export controls and Incoterms.
- Supervise interactions with freight forwarders, US Customs Officers, Customs Brokers, suppliers, and customers.
- Assist with managing legal issues pertaining to trade compliance on a global basis.
- Support the logistics team to ensure timely filing and customs clearance of imports into the US.
- Support AE's military compliance program.
- Serve as primary contact for regulatory compliance matters, including NAFTA, GSP, Protests, Drawback, Binding Rulings, and other government agency compliance requirements.
- Review clauses in supplier and customer contracts pertaining to trade compliance to minimize risk level for the Company.
- Develop and maintain international trade manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct periodic trade compliance program reviews and audits.
- Proactively work with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Supply Chain, and Logistics, and Finance to ensure compliance.
- Manage team to develop, execute, and complete projects.
- Organize team roles and evaluate employee performance.
- Accomplish department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating team's activities.
- Perform employee reviews and assessments.
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Document operational tasks and global trade current events and reports to upper-level management.
- Assist with new employee onboarding and training program.
- Conduct trade compliance due diligence on acquisition targets.
- Integrate newly acquired companies into AE Trade Compliance program.
- Supervise review sales transactions to ensure compliance with all global export laws.
- Maintain internal stakeholder Sharepoint site with up to date information regarding trade compliance issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of export control and compliance program experience, preferably in the semiconductor or technology industry.
- Proven experience with export classification.
- Knowledge of export control regulations for the United States and for other countries with export control processes and practices.
- Knowledgeable in denied party screening database systems.
- Experience with export licensing, use of license exceptions, and assurances (EUCs etc.).
- Experience conducting trade compliance risk assessments.
- Working knowledge of standard operating procedures of Sales, Supply Chain, and Logistics organizations, as well as Accounting processes.
- Effective relationship building and proactive communication across cross-departmental and international environment.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in related field.
- Customs Broker License strongly preferred.
