Job Summary

The Night Manager is a key leadership role at BJ's Wholesale Club, responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the club's merchandising and operations teams. This role requires a strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Club Manager to develop and implement effective merchandising strategies that drive sales and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the merchandising team to manage merchandise display and signing processes, ensuring that the sales floor is always visually appealing and well-stocked.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of key metrics and reporting for total club and department performance, using this knowledge to drive performance and profitability.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that everyone is aligned and working towards common goals.
  • Ensure that all team members are properly trained and equipped to perform their jobs, and that they have the resources and support they need to succeed.
  • Manage and maintain the club's inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise, and ensuring that all products are properly displayed and priced.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the designated forklift trainer for the club, and operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all team members follow safety and sanitation guidelines, and that the club is always in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or experience in a related field preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) required.
  • Forklift operator certification required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must successfully complete required training and certification processes.
  • Must demonstrate leadership capabilities, including supervising team members, training team members, and driving and communicating results.
Working Conditions

The Night Manager will spend most of their time standing and moving about continuously on hard surfaces. They will frequently need to position themselves to examine and/or scan merchandise, as well as to bend, climb, crawl, kneel, push, pull, reach, move side to side, stoop, and climb ladders/step stools. They will require use of a pallet jack to pull and push pallets, and will operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

The Night Manager will frequently lift objects up to 30 pounds, and may require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. They will usually perform their job in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. They may occasionally be exposed to temperature extremes in freezer or cooler units, and may be exposed to company-approved chemicals and cleaning agents.
