Position Overview:

In this role, you will oversee the precise documentation of revenue, expenses, and balance sheet components, adhering to financial policies and generally accepted accounting principles. You will spearhead daily accounting functions for designated areas, ensuring compliance with accounting protocols, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Your responsibilities will include managing revenue accounting and documenting financial conclusions based on technical guidelines, including ASC606. Additionally, you will analyze data sets, summarize findings succinctly, and provide insights that validate recorded transactions. This position will contribute to special projects and report directly to the Assistant Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting operations in designated balance sheet, revenue, and expense areas, including the preparation, review, and supervision of monthly closings, reserve and accrual analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Lead, mentor, and support accounting team members.
  • Ensure accurate accounting practices in compliance with GAAP and company financial policies while maintaining robust internal controls.
  • Review customer contracts and transactions to ensure proper accounting in accordance with ASC606 and other relevant standards.
  • Document financial conclusions for approval by senior management and auditors.
  • Coordinate research on technical accounting issues, particularly those related to revenue recognition and the accruals and deferrals of various revenue and expense activities. Stay informed on the activities of standard-setting bodies (FASB and SEC) and document accounting conclusions for senior management and external auditors.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to query, analyze, and report on data sets, validating and supporting recorded transactions.
  • Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including preparing quarterly and annual assessments, testing, reviewing, and addressing any identified exceptions as directed by the Director of Corporate Compliance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance communication, improve processes and controls, and ensure the accuracy of accounting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Engage with various partners to understand business objectives and translate them into transactional and reporting implications.
  • Provide necessary documentation to internal and external auditors during quarter-end and year-end reporting periods.
  • Work with multiple business partners to offer guidance on accounting transactions, inform forecasts, and contribute to special projects, such as implementing additional functionalities in Workday.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as required, including decision support analyses.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public or private accounting.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical accounting standards and regulations (GAAP, FASB).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including macros).
