Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at Alaska-Santos. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities for all the Pikka Facilities on a wide range of electrical equipment, power generation, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on large synchronous generators, 480V / 5KV / 15KV switchgear and motor control centers.
  • Functional check-out and commissioning of new installations of electrical equipment in hazardous classified areas.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations to determine root cause.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as driven by the work management system and provide quality detail and feedback to work completed and discovered.
  • Provide Santos oversight of contractor work, ensuring compliance with Santos and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with engineering to evaluate maintenance program performance and pursue predictive maintenance analytics.
  • Seek knowledge in and encourage the use of innovative technology to further optimize facilities' availability and reliability.
  • Utilizing safe work practices and ensuring all electrical safety requirements are met.
  • Protective relay programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Medium Voltage switching and energization.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • State of Alaska Journeyman Electrical License.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license to operate mobile equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years electrical experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency using electrical test and calibration equipment.
  • Experience with work management systems (SAP, Maximo, or similar) preferred.
  • Experience with large synchronous generators, 480V / 5KV / 15KV switchgear and motor control centers.
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour day/night shift with a 2/2 weeks on/off rotational schedule on the North Slope of Alaska.
  • Currently reside in, able to relocate to, or willing to commute to Anchorage, AK without company assistance.
  • Willing and able to independently lift/carry and otherwise work with items weighing upwards of 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Willing and able to work in a variety of postures and positions throughout the work period to include supine, kneeling, squatting, bending and crawling, as well as working in tight confines.
  • Willing and able to independently transition to and from the ground without the aid of a stationary object for support and sustain prolonged periods of standing and walking on hard surfaces as well as steel grating, snow, ice and mud.
  • Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to routinely climb stairs and ladders to extended heights.
  • Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work at extremes of heat and cold, in high noise areas and with dust and fumes.
  • Willing and able, to help other facility and field techs when they need help.
  • Able to successfully pass a fit for duty assessment.
