Job Overview

As a Support Professional at YAI, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to foster increased socialization, skill building, community safety, and overall independence skills while assisting them in participating in various volunteer sites in our local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Utilize effective communication skills and time management techniques to ensure seamless interactions with individuals and teams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a highly effective team dynamic, promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual support.
  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to enhance your professional growth and development.
  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision of the individuals we support.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and provide support with personal care needs.
  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, home visits, and other outings.
  • Build positive relationships with individuals, families, and colleagues to create a supportive network.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment through various methods, including Personal Outcome Measures, Person-Centered Thinking, and Informed Decision Making.
  • Ensure person-centered plans are implemented and documented to ensure compliance and billing.
  • Utilize foundational teaching skills, such as EMOE, Task Analysis, Essential Skills, Supports, and Modifications, to enhance learning and development.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Work or life experience within the intellectual and developmental disabilities field is a plus.
  • Ability to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on the position.
  • Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.
