Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Loan Specialist to join our team at Communities Unlimited, Inc. in Brownsville, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and servicing consumer loans, interviewing loan applicants, and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and service consumer loans, including interviewing loan applicants and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure borrowers' questions are answered and needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records, and follow all applicable organizational, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to achieve team goals and objectives.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor or program director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in credit/lending at a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of credit, lending concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work.
  • Proficient use of computer, internet, and Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a leadership position in non-profit or community-based work.
  • Knowledge of the collections process in compliance with the principles established by the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Regulation.
  • Ability to underwrite loans for home improvement, including processing applications, obtaining required documents, and preparing and maintaining files.
