Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Loan Specialist to join our team at Communities Unlimited, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and servicing consumer loans, interviewing loan applicants, and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and service consumer loans, including interviewing loan applicants and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.
  • Provide customer service to ensure borrowers' questions are answered and needs are met, and loans are repaid.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records, and follow all applicable organizational, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Travel throughout assigned Colonias in S Texas to provide onsite events and assistance to the community.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; minimum of an associate degree in accounting, business or related field and at least 1 year of experience underwriting and/or servicing loans.
  • Experience in a leadership position in non-profit or community-based work a plus.
  • Must be English/Spanish bi-lingual.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel to office located in Brownsville, TX.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in credit/lending at a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of credit, lending concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently, organize and prioritize work.
  • Process paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats.
