Role Summary

As a Bilingual Educator, you will inspire a passion for learning in every child through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a steadfast belief in their capabilities. Your instructional approach will focus on engaging learners and providing varied opportunities for applying acquired knowledge. You will participate in both individual and collaborative lesson planning that aligns with grade-level standards, tailored to student language proficiency. Ongoing assessments and student work reviews will inform real-time instructional adjustments. Strong content knowledge in your subject area is essential to effectively address and resolve learning challenges.

The Bilingual Teacher will manage a dedicated classroom, delivering personalized academic and language instruction to English Learners in both English and Spanish. This role requires a commitment to fostering biliteracy and supporting students in developing the necessary language skills and subject knowledge to thrive in the classroom.

Instruction and Assessment (90%)

  • Implement the Distinctive Schools Academic and Bilingual Model.
  • Conduct language assessments to evaluate students' proficiency.
  • Integrate WIDA Standards into daily lesson plans.
  • Analyze student work from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide direct Bilingual and ESL instruction to a diverse classroom.
  • Develop lesson plans that employ effective instructional techniques for Spanish-speaking students.
  • Deliver Spanish Language Arts and ESL curriculum effectively.
  • Ensure lessons engage students actively in their learning process.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methodologies tailored to the needs of CLD students.
  • Assist in administering required English Language Proficiency assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
  • Analyze assessment data to inform instructional strategies and support student mastery of grade-level standards.
  • Participate in professional development and collaborative opportunities to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Classroom Environment (10%)

  • Celebrate and honor student identities and cultures.
  • Maintain an organized and welcoming classroom atmosphere.
  • Implement effective classroom management procedures to maximize learning.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Communicate regularly with families in their preferred language.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Requirements:

  • Valid Professional Educator License or equivalent.
  • Valid Bilingual Spanish Endorsement or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
  • Technology Skills:
    • Ability to analyze student data from various sources.
    • Proficient in cloud-based software (e.g., Google Suite).
    • Willingness to learn new digital tools as needed.
  • Commitment to supporting students' social, emotional, and academic growth.

Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting, carrying, and some physical activity required.
