Director of Finance Job Description

Our client, a non-profit organization based in New Haven County, is seeking a highly skilled Director of Finance to join their team.

This is a fully on-site position based in New Haven. Depending on experience, the salary range is $90-115k.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial plans and strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversee the finance department, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Enhance and enforce policies and procedures to improve financial operations.
  • Prepare and issue annual reports and other financial documents.
  • Coordinate tax reporting activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical financial advice and leadership to others within the finance department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, including producing financial reports and documents.
  • HUD experience is a plus; non-profit experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of GAAP and financial management principles.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Expert in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products.
