Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Specialist will collaborate closely with the Engagement and Communications Manager to design and implement programs and operational activities at various locations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enhance Access to Programming for Families
  • Support Member and Family Events
  • Assist the Engagement Director with Local Programs and Services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead the Academy classes on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Facilitate the Living & Learning classes on a weekly schedule.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Indiana Waivers to provide assistance to families.
  • Plan and execute two annual family social gatherings in collaboration with the Engagement & Communications Manager.
  • Participate in and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with Early Education Playgroups held weekly.
  • Support School Age Events hosted quarterly.
  • Provide transportation for members to selected events as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally with individuals with disabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong customer service abilities.
  • Positive demeanor, relationship-building capabilities, and a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role require effective communication, the ability to remain stationary for extended periods, and the capacity to perform tasks that involve walking and manual dexterity.


Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, with a controlled climate.
