Collaborative Special Education Teacher and Case Manager

Role SummaryThe Special Education Co-Teacher/Case Manager will work collaboratively with content teachers to serve students who require specialized instruction and support. The role involves designing assessments, identifying individual learning needs, and implementing differentiated instruction to meet student requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and align lessons, activities, and assessments to ensure academic success
- Design and implement assessments that accurately measure student progress and incorporate digital tools
- Identify and address individual student learning barriers and develop strategies for social, emotional, and behavioral support
- Collaborate with teachers and lab monitors to analyze data, group students, and assign interventions
- Assess learning styles and implement differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs
- Determine accommodations and modifications needed for students with disabilities in general education classrooms
- Implement instruction in various modalities including individual or group direct synchronous instruction, learning support, life skills support, itinerant support, resource room support, telephone conferencing, and parent learning opportunities
- Communicate regularly with families regarding grades, progress, and behavior
- Notify staff members who have contact with students regarding their responsibilities
- Analyze and report data in a meaningful way
- Complete IEP progress sections and eligibility determination sections in SEDS
- Take notes during IEP, Eligibility, and MDT meetings to be faxed or uploaded into SEDS
- Hold weekly meetings with students regarding academic and behavioral progress
- Develop and implement IEPs with measurable goals using Progress Monitoring
- Accurately complete special education paperwork according to regulations and timelines
- Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field with a focus on literacy, basic computation, or quantitative skills
- Eligibility for certification by OSSE in the appropriate content area within one year of employment
- Teaching experience with youth at the secondary level
- Familiarity with research-based instructional methods and curriculum development
- Knowledge of student-centered instruction, performance-based assessments, and youth development principles
