**Job Description:**
We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team in Washington, DC. As a Special Education Teacher at Soliant, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Instruction and Support:
- Developing and implementing IEPs for students with diverse learning needs.
- Designing and delivering engaging, differentiated instructional activities that accommodate various learning styles.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, adjusting teaching methods and materials as needed.
- Classroom Management:
- Creating and maintaining a positive, supportive, and safe classroom environment.
- Employing behavioral management strategies to address and resolve issues impacting student learning.
- Fostering a classroom culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and concerns.
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to the development of educational goals and strategies.
- Professional Development:
- Staying current with best practices in special education and incorporating new strategies into teaching.
- Attending professional development workshops and trainings as required.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintaining accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
- Preparing reports and documentation as required by the school district and state regulations.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid Virginia Special Education Certification (Teacher of Students with Disabilities or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in special education (preferred but not required).
- Experience with various disabilities and learning challenges, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
