Job Overview

MindWorks Collaborative is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring their access to education and supporting their academic and social-emotional growth.

About the Role

This TVI will play a crucial role in assessing students' needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans, and providing direct instruction in various subject areas, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, technology, and adaptive skills.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of visual impairments and their impact on learning and development, as well as the ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments.

A valid certification as a TVI and a Bachelor's Degree are required for this position. Experience as a TVI or a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction in various subject areas, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, technology, and adaptive skills.
  • Collaborate with students, their families, and school staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to meeting students' needs.
