Special Education Lead Teacher 1st Grade Educator

Bridges Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated Early Elementary Special Education Lead Teacher to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with high-level special needs.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing an early elementary non-categorical self-contained classroom, developing and implementing discrete trial instruction, social skills instruction, and behavior plan implementation. They will also contribute to Social/Emotional progress reports and IEP development, assess student progress regularly, and collect data to track students' progress in three program areas.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Management: Plan and manage an early elementary non-categorical self-contained classroom with high level special needs students and assistant teachers.
- Instructional Design: Develop and implement the classroom discrete trial instruction, social skills instruction, and behavior plan implementation in collaboration with the lead teacher under the supervision of the BCBA.
- Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress regularly using VBMAPP Milestones, Transitions, and Barriers assessments.
- Data Collection: Regularly collect data to track students' progress in three program areas: curriculum, IEP, and ABA/VB.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A dual Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education; a Masters Degree and certification in Special Education; a Bachelor's Degree and certification in Special Education; a BA and passed the Praxis SPED exams; or a BA and experience in special education.
- 1 to 2 years of successful classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting. 2 or more years of teaching experience is preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time-management skills.
The salary range for this position is $57,500-$88,500 per year. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, disability insurance, and a retirement plan.
