Key Responsibilities
  • Content Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with NBCUniversal's brand and editorial vision.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of producers and content producers in selecting and developing compelling news stories for our broadcasts and digital platforms.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the production, engineering, and IT teams to ensure smooth and seamless show productions.
  • Editorial Oversight: Collaborate with newsroom leadership and other NBC Owned Television stations to plan and execute special events and day-to-day coverage.
  • Staff Management: Communicate with news management and assignment desk personnel to shape newscasts and determine the composition and flow of our content.
  • Training and Development: Work with news leadership to ensure necessary training and coaching is provided for producers and content producers.
  • Recruitment: Participate in the recruitment efforts and facilitate the newsroom orientation of new employees.
  • Market Analysis: Track market competitive trends and develop and implement show content and format changes.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Track coverage-related costs and ensure fiscal responsibility in the news department.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience working in news management.
  • Newsroom Experience: Minimum 10 years of newsroom newsgathering and/or production experience in a top 20 market.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven strong journalistic leadership, with the ability to assign, direct, and supervise broadcast news coverage.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in working with the latest newsroom technologies and ability to communicate at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish Language Skills: Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Emerging Technologies: Understanding of emerging news production techniques and technology, with a pioneering spirit to learn and invent the future.
Additional Requirements
  • Authorization: Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Work Location: Must be willing to work in Washington, DC.
  • Work Schedule: Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights.
