Job Description:

The Recovery Coach Specialist will work closely with our Services over Sentences initiative, providing expertise and support to individuals in recovery. This role requires a strong understanding of addiction treatment services, trial court systems, and recovery coaching principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coach individuals in recovery-oriented skills, activities of daily living, socialization, and community integration.
  • Assist the Suffolk County DA's Office with interventions to engage high-risk individuals presenting in court with substance use disorder.
  • Support treatment teams in developing individual action plans or wellness plans for recoverees.
  • Implement, teach, assist, and/or coach persons served with their individual action plan or wellness plan to review goals and objectives on a consistent basis.
  • Interface with collateral contacts working with persons served or recoverees coached, including Probation Officers, individual therapists, and treatment providers.
  • When appropriate, assist persons served in identifying and accessing resources in the community and removing barriers.
  • Develop and enhance peer-driven educational services and participate in upkeep and maintenance of program.
  • Attend daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning or wellness planning review meetings, including required trainings within prescribed timelines.
  • Document progress to maintain a permanent record of recoveree activity according to established methods and procedures.
  • Participate in provision of services to persons served by co-facilitating groups to provide support for increased stability.
  • Provide ongoing assessment, problem-solving, side-by-side services, skill training, supervision, and environmental adaptations to assist persons served with activities of daily living.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education/experience: May have a bachelor's degree in a field other than behavioral science OR have a high school degree OR GED.
  • Have work experience with adults diagnosed with substance use and/or dependency.
  • Should have experience and knowledge regarding the addiction treatment service system, trial court system, recovery coaching, and other human-related services.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience.
