Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resident Technical Staff member to join our team at the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. As a key member of our technical team, you will provide expert technical stage support for a variety of productions, including concerts, recordings, and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, and operate video and sound systems, projectors, live streaming, video cameras, shading and color, video switchers and playback, and communications systems for performances and events.
  • Coordinate with Technical Directors, Audio/Video Managers, and clients to ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Support a range of event requirements, including stage set-up and tear-down, and provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with other stage crew, Technical Director, Music Director, and orchestra personnel to ensure successful events.
Requirements
  • 3-6 years of experience in production AV, preferably in concert, theatrical systems, corporate, and broadcast environments.
  • Proficiency in programming large-scale switchers, color and shading, and playback software, including Black Magic Designs Constellation, Vioso, QLAB, PowerPoint, and Keynote.
  • Experience as a V1, projectionist, and video wall technician for live events, including theatrical performances, corporate meetings, and concerts.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with others, including stage crew, Technical Director, Music Director, orchestra personnel, and clients.
  • Valid Washington State Driver License and ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Physical Requirements
  • Normal hearing acuity and ability to work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs, with frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
  • Ability to maneuver safely and work on ladders, catwalks, and while using harnessed fall protection.
