Position Overview:

The Oncology Patient Care Technician II plays a vital role within the patient care delivery team, focusing on both direct and indirect patient care responsibilities. This position operates under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, who assigns tasks based on the needs of the patients and the unit.

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Oncology Patient Care Technician II is responsible for reporting any deviations from expected patient conditions to the supervising Registered Nurse. This role requires extensive interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, necessitating strong interpersonal and customer service skills to foster a supportive healing environment.

The Oncology Patient Care Technician II assists the healthcare team in achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the care continuum.


Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the healthcare team to create a healing environment that prioritizes the needs of patients and their families.

- Provide physical assistance to patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, feeding, dressing, mobility, and exercise.

- Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and call lights promptly, greeting patients and visitors, maintaining departmental records, paging staff, and managing supply inventory.

- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards, while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. This includes following infection control protocols and hazardous waste management.

- Undertake additional related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a practical nursing program, Certified Nurse Assistant Program, Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent training.
- Ability to successfully complete a basic cardiac arrhythmia monitoring course.

Preferred:
- Prior experience in a hospital setting.
