Job Summary
St. Joseph's Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide basic care to acutely ill patients, including vital sign monitoring and medication administration.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Perform EKGs and venipuncture as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or must obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Phlebotomy/blood drawing experience preferred but will train.
- One of the following certifications or diplomas required:
- PCA/PCT (Patient Care Associate/Patient Care Technician) diploma with 6 months to 1 year of previous work experience within the last 6 months in a healthcare setting.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- PCA/PCT diploma with National Health Career Association certification.
- EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification.
- Enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals level coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification.
- Provides evidence of completion in Nursing Fundamental level coursework.
- Evidence of completion in a Nursing Assistant training program.
- Home Health Aide experience.
