Job Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist will play a key role in identifying, developing, and implementing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and projects at Kohler's Wisconsin campus. This position will be responsible for facilitating site injury prevention plans, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement EHS Programs
    • Identify and coordinate safety improvement plans to ensure continuous improvement of safety in new or existing products, processes, and procedures.
    • Develop, communicate, and facilitate site injury prevention plans.
    • Maintain all OSHA required programs, training, logs, records, and reports.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and Hazard Analysis
    • Conduct risk and hazard analysis to identify potential safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Maintain statistical analysis of associate accidents and injuries to target specific areas for improvement.
  • Manage EHS Training and Compliance
    • Coordinate all related EHS training for management, supervision, and hourly associates.
    • Perform incident investigations (RCA) and ensure CAPA is closed in a timely fashion.
  • Lead EHS Initiatives and Projects
    • Implement safety-related capital projects, including evaluation, justification, and follow-up.
    • Work with medical providers to evaluate lost and restricted work days, and recommend improvements.
  • Support EHS Governance and Compliance
    • Understand and communicate pertinent EHS government regulations, Kohler EHS standards, and best practices to management and associates.
    • Responsible for maintaining sustainability-related data and required reporting.
  • Lead EHS Awareness and Training
    • Coordinate and present monthly safety meeting topics for upper management, supervision, and hourly associates.
    • Actively participate in site safety committees.
  • Develop and Maintain EHS Policies and Procedures
    • Responsible for understanding applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, all related licenses, and permitting (operating and environmental), and for maintaining a current environmental compliance calendar.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • Four-year degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field.
    • Requires at least five to ten years' experience in an EHS-related role within an industrial setting.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Extensive knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations.
    • Ability to work with multiple operations across varying business units.
    • Experience with EHS auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective action identification and implementation.
    • Demonstrated communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
    • Attention to detail and compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to achieve results.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
    • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
