The Senior Performance Engineering Specialist is tasked with spearheading the development of cutting-edge consumer products within a dynamic and collaborative cross-functional team.   • Possesses extensive knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, particularly in casting, forging, stamping, injection molding, welding, tube bending, and hydroforming, with a focus on plastic injection molding design for manufacturability.

  • Demonstrates technical proficiency in CAD modeling using Creo Parametric, along with expertise in CAD modeling best practices and Windchill PDM systems.

Specific Responsibilities

Creation Phase

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Industrial Design to establish product specifications informed by consumer insights, market trends, and sales feedback.
  • Define system-level requirements for complex product families and work alongside internal or external engineers on subsystem design and integration.
  • Analyze consumer behavior and competitive offerings to devise solutions that deliver innovative and enhanced value to customers.
  • Conduct high-level feasibility assessments on initial product concepts.

Refinement Phase

  • Coordinate concept development across mechanical, electrical, and software teams in various global regions, owning technical requirements and engineering execution.
  • Act as the primary engineering liaison with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Ensure the application of best practices to optimize system design, utilizing tools such as FEA, CFD, and Design of Experiments.
  • Develop and refine concepts using 3D modeling software (Creo), FEA, and CFD methodologies.
  • Employ tools like DFMEA and engineering design reviews to identify and mitigate high-risk failure modes.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art prototyping and testing facilities to create physical prototypes that validate product features.
  • Collaborate with internal manufacturing teams and suppliers to balance cost, performance, quality, and project timelines.
  • Validate product value through consumer and/or human experience research.

Implementation Phase

  • Execute engineering calculations, tolerance stacks, and produce detailed technical drawings, adhering to engineering standards and GD&T.
  • Enhance design using DfM (Design for Manufacturing) principles to ensure reliable, stable, and efficient mass production.
  • Guarantee regulatory compliance through meticulous product verification test planning.
  • Support manufacturing ramp-up by providing on-site feedback during pre-production phases.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering (mechanical, electromechanical, or related field) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience with Creo Parametric and the ability to coach best practices.
  • Hands-on fabrication and prototyping capabilities.
  • Strong technical judgment and effective communication skills.
  • Exceptional collaboration, influence, and negotiation abilities, with a strong professional presence.
  • Proven track record in developing, motivating, and leading technical talent.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically as required.
