Overview

The Security Specialist II is essential in maintaining a secure, safe, and welcoming atmosphere by implementing security protocols and safeguarding the Kohler brand.

A Security Specialist at Kohler Co. serves as a helpful resource for individuals requiring assistance, medical support, crisis management, or local guidance. They act swiftly in emergencies as a vital team member, dedicated to protecting the property, guests, visitors, and employees of Kohler Co.

This role involves identifying potential risks, upholding security measures to mitigate those risks, responding to incidents, and minimizing exposure or liability across various domains: financial, physical, and personnel.

The Security Specialist II will also ensure adherence to standardized security practices, systems, and processes to comply with corporate security policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of an experienced Kohler Co. Security Supervisor, and within established time frames:
  • Effectively execute all duties of Security Officer I with minimal supervision.
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Security Operations Center.
  • Conduct patrols of Kohler facilities, grounds, and locations both by vehicle and on foot. Engage with visitors, patrons, and staff to maintain order, protect property, and alert individuals to rule violations.
  • Respond to incidents, assessing, prioritizing, and effectively communicating assistance requirements.
  • Proficiently utilize the Security Department's computerized incident reporting software, telecommunication devices, and multi-channel radios.
  • Understand company alarm systems to determine appropriate responses for various emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
  • Identify security equipment issues and ensure proper notifications for repairs are made.
  • Manage access control requirements to ensure optimal security levels efficiently.
  • Actively deter criminal activity by maintaining a visible security presence.
  • Propose and coordinate special assignments during emergencies or as directed by management.
  • Physical Requirements
  • The essential physical requirements for Security Team Leaders and Officers include:
  • The capability to transport emergency medical equipment, such as medical bags, from a vehicle to the emergency scene and utilize it appropriately based on training.
  • The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access rooftops and other areas in emergencies.
  • Certification and proficiency in performing CPR, unassisted, as defined by the American Heart Association, and operating an automatic external defibrillator.
  • The ability to provide clear verbal instructions to others during emergencies.
  • The ability to legally operate a passenger vehicle or light truck.
Skills/Qualifications
  • High School diploma required; a two-year college degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration, or Liberal Arts is preferred.
  • Experience in law enforcement, industrial security, or Military Police is preferred. A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.
  • Maintain necessary skills in medical response.

  • Submit daily reports of activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, accidents, unauthorized persons, suspicious activities, or unusual occurrences to Corporate Security Supervision.
  • Establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships.
  • Maintain emotional control and perform effectively during emergencies, crises, or highly stressful situations.
  • Consistently communicate in a clear and well-modulated voice.
  • Memorize, retain, and accurately recall information.
  • Multi-task, organize, prioritize, adapt to changing situations, and take appropriate action.
  • Represent Kohler Co. and Corporate Security professionally and respectfully to all guests and associates.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Be flexible with work schedules.
  • Uphold confidentiality.
  • Remain alert and focused at all times, prioritizing safety.
  • Operate security equipment safely and respectfully.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills based on limited information in crisis situations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment in safeguarding confidential information.
  • Perform detailed tasks with high accuracy, even in stressful situations.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, energy, and personal investment in daily responsibilities.
  • Seek to enhance relationships and processes to drive business outcomes.
  • Be available to work holidays, weekends, irregular hours, or extended shifts with short notice.


The hourly range for this position is $23.95. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by various factors including the candidate's experience, education, and work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
