Job Summary:

As a CST Lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Operating Room. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to patients. You will also be responsible for transporting patients to and from the Operating Room suite, positioning patients according to the type of surgery, and identifying and caring for biological specimens. Additionally, you will prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Under the direction of a professional nurse, perform all processes related to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during, and after any surgical procedure.
  • As the lead tech for a service line, provide leadership, education, direction, support, and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific services.
  • Include care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times, and inventory management.
  • Daily collaboration with RN Service Line Coordinator.
  • Act as a mentor/coach for orientees.
  • Ability to proficiently scrub 3 specialty areas, including but not limited to: Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program required.
  • 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center setting required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Lead Tech experience or proven track record as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required.
