Job Overview

The SAS Programming Specialist is tasked with architecting and constructing the frameworks necessary for delivering RxAnte's analytical offerings in a scalable fashion. Proficiency in analytics and SAS programming is essential. This role collaborates closely with the VP of Data Services, the Director of Data Services, and fellow developers to define the architectural design patterns for our systems. The specialist employs iterative and agile development methodologies alongside modular coding practices. Beyond system design and development, this position contributes to the monthly production of client deliverables and engages with clients to gather data and resolve any data-related challenges. This is a full-time remote position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the VP of Data Services to sustain computing infrastructure and formulate long-term software architecture.
  • Establish and uphold project deliverable processes with a focus on scalability.
  • Revise and enhance existing base code, ensuring scalability and systematic organization as needed.
  • Develop client deliverable projects utilizing SAS, R, and other necessary software.
  • Work in partnership with client IT teams to obtain client data and address data issues.
  • Engage in additional activities as required.
Qualifications:
  • Capability to read complex raw data files.
  • Expertise in manipulating data within a SAS datastep, employing array processing and group processing techniques.
  • Experience with SAS hash objects, hash tables, and iterators.
  • Extensive knowledge of proc format.
  • Understanding of SAS program tokenization, compilation, and execution.
  • Familiarity with the macro processor and accessing SAS metadata through dictionary tables.
  • Ability to comprehend program data vectors and differentiate between executable and non-executable SAS statements.
  • Experience in report writing using ODS, data null, proc summary, proc report, and proc tabulate.
  • Significant experience with proc sql, including pass-through to Oracle and DB2.
  • Proficiency in table-driven development techniques for modular coding.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-driven and highly productive, capable of working independently.
  • A collaborative team player with strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Capacity to excel in an environment that demands ownership of outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in fields such as epidemiology, health services research, health policy, public health, mathematics/statistics, or computer science is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in SAS coding and system design.
  • Experience with administrative healthcare data, healthcare informatics, or health care claims processing.
