Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is in search of a detail-oriented and proactive individual to take on the role of Child Welfare Support Specialist. Under direct supervision, this position involves accompanying Child Protection Specialists to conduct investigations related to child abuse and neglect. The role includes assisting in interviews with children and families both in their residences and within the community. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about child welfare and are eager to contribute to the safety of children. Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist Child Protection Specialists in their duties.
  2. Observe and report any concerning behaviors of children to the Child Protection Specialist.
  3. Inform clients about available services through DCFS and partner organizations.
  4. Maintain accurate records related to transportation and operational expenses.
  5. Perform additional tasks as assigned that align with the responsibilities outlined above.
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a combination of education, training, or experience that equates to either the completion of four years of high school or two years of experience in a social welfare program serving culturally diverse populations.

Employment Conditions
  1. Must be able to travel as required. A valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance are necessary.
  2. Must successfully pass a background check.
  3. Must be available for on-call duties as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, standard business hours.
