Job Summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physical Education Instructor to join our team. As a Physical Education Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging physical education programs for students in K-8th grade.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Plan and teach physical education classes, including movement, fitness activities, cooperative games, and outdoor activities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all physical education equipment and storage facilities.
  • Substitute Teaching: Substitute teach when needed, ensuring a smooth transition for students and staff.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Principal and Director of CYO Athletics on thematic curriculum projects.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with parents regarding student issues and mediate conflicts between children.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and grades.
  • Incident Reporting: Report any incidents or problems to the Director of CYO Athletics immediately.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree or higher in a related field, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with grade school children in a classroom setting.
  • Skills: Knowledge of organized youth sports, coaching, and classroom experience; ability to supervise elementary-aged children; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Clearances: Must complete Shield the Vulnerable Training prior to hire.
Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Frequent bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and walking; intermittent lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work Environment: Work outdoors for 75% of the time, in a variety of inclement weather conditions; noise level in work environment is usually loud and consistent with a gymnasium setting.
