We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Substitute Registered Nurse - Med Surg. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students, promoting health education and preventive health practices, and working collaboratively with the Health Services Director to implement a comprehensive program of health services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine and emergency care for sick and injured students, adhering to district policy and procedures.
- Coordinate the management system to administer medications to students at school, in accordance with district policy and procedures.
- Provide prescribed medical treatments to students and offer health education to individuals and groups.
- Serve as a health advocate for students, reviewing and evaluating immunization records, and participating in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, school crisis team, and school committees as needed.
- Enforce procedures to ensure proper program administration, perform screening procedures, and make referrals as necessary.
- Participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse, requisition supplies and equipment, and maintain accurate and up-to-date health records on all students.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- State certified to conduct vision, hearing, spinal, and type 2 diabetes screening, or within 6 months of employment.
- Appropriate CPR Certification.
- Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
- One (1) year nursing experience, preferably in community health or pediatrics.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and the need to maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, pushing, and pulling, as well as regular lifting of loads up to and including 50 pounds. The candidate may be exposed to biological hazards, pathogens, and communicable diseases, and may require feeding, diapering, and caring for handicapped students.
