Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and organizes daily tasks for the crew based on directives from a General Foreperson or Supervisor.
  • Facilitates on-site training and retraining, guiding the team on updated job protocols.
  • Implements safety regulations in accordance with industry standards, company policies, and OSHA guidelines, while conducting safety training sessions.
  • Engages with property owners and clients to address concerns such as access, service interruptions, and responsibilities for any potential property damage, escalating issues to the General Foreperson when necessary.
  • Secures necessary permissions from property owners to carry out essential work.
  • Fosters positive relationships with customers and the public through effective job execution and professional conduct of crew members.
  • May be authorized to investigate incident reports and minor damage claims, resolving issues as appropriate.
  • Keeps detailed records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance and operations.
  • Manages crew expenses, ensuring efficient use of labor, methods, and equipment.
  • Provides the General Foreperson and utility representatives with updates on completed orders, work units, crew hours, and minor repairs.
  • Regularly submits reports on incidents, equipment malfunctions, property damage, and new employee evaluations.
  • Collaborates with local authorities when obstructing public access during operations.
  • Establishes safety barriers, warning signs, and markers to protect workers and the public from hazards, taking decisive action in emergencies to mitigate risks.
  • Inspects and arranges for necessary repairs of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization on the work vehicle and job site.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT maintenance and inspection standards for all vehicles.
  • Stays updated on new equipment, operational standards, and company policies, including EEO and AA guidelines, requesting repairs or replacements as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and symbols related to electrical systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must demonstrate adaptability to field conditions and the ability to act independently.
  • Valid driver's license preferred; must be able to operate a company vehicle safely.
  • Ability to work with arms raised for extended periods.
  • Weight should not exceed approximately 300 pounds due to equipment limitations.
  • No fear of heights is required.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Pre-Screening:

  • Successful candidates may need to complete a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or MVR check.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver's License is preferred.

Travel Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation to the designated work location.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (less than 10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, manual dexterity, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, and climbing.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off vehicles, reading, lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): clear communication, visual acuity, hearing, depth perception, and color vision.

Safety Considerations:

Due to the nature of the work, employees must possess adequate vision for distance judgment and coordination, maintain focus for extended periods, endure various weather conditions, and wear necessary personal protective equipment. Employees should be capable of entering and exiting vehicles frequently, navigating diverse terrains, and performing job duties throughout standard work hours while effectively communicating and managing conflicts.

  • Work involves proximity to energized power lines.
  • Exposure to high noise levels from machinery and equipment requires hearing protection.
  • Employees will work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, encountering natural elements such as plants and insects.
  • Work may occur at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Physical tasks may include walking, climbing, and operating equipment under challenging weather conditions.
