Hilton Head Island Airport is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Part-Time Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Firefighter. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating firefighting equipment, fire trucks, and rescue equipment, while maintaining training and certifications as outlined in Federal Aviation Administration regulations and policy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform duties to ensure the safe operation of firefighting equipment, fire trucks, and rescue equipment.
- Maintain training and certifications as outlined in Federal Aviation Administration regulations and policy.
- Conduct airfield inspections and perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with airport staff to ensure a safe and efficient airport environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1 and 2 Certification.
- Must obtain NFPA 1003 ARFF Firefighter certification within 6 months of hire date.
- Maintain CPR/BLS Certification.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs and maintain a fitness level commensurate with firefighting duties.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pass Background Check.
- Maintain related certifications and competency.
- Prior ARFF experience.
- Knowledge of airport communications and airport operations.
- Emergency scene procedures and actions.
