Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of civil/heavy highway construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site Project Superintendents and Project Engineers.
  • Prepare notification documents regarding power, water, fire utilities.
  • Develop and implement the technical, economic, and operations plan.
  • Negotiate with clients.
  • Participate in estimating processes.
  • Optimize operations means and methods with Project Engineers.
  • Control project progress to meet objectives.
  • Determine suppliers and subcontractors in collaboration with the Division Manager and Contracts Department.
  • Develop project schedules.
  • Prepare and assist in weekly project update meetings.
  • Participate in division weekly meetings.
  • Ensure project quality and respect commitments with clients.
  • Review and approve change order requests.
  • Complete project budgets.
  • Control project expenses.
  • Responsible for budget and billing control.
  • Approve invoices.
  • Prepare final quantities reports.
  • Actively participate in training Construction Engineers.
  • Actively participate in recruiting candidates.
  • Responsible for Performance Evaluations for all employees assigned to the project.
  • Recommend and propose technical solutions (innovative products and processes).
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients.
  • Participate in final project acceptance.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety on the project at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Project Manager.
  • A Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent work experience) and 10+ years on large design-build heavy/highway projects is required.
  • Knowledge of construction technique and practices, paving, underground, concrete, and grading required.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of heavy, civil construction equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete.
