We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Job Summary:The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support to our healthcare team, performing various tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Consistently demonstrate professional conduct and ethical practice in the clinical setting.
- Utilize effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Perform initial clinical assessments and assist physicians with treatments and procedures.
- Provide patient education and instruction on diagnosis, tests, and medications.
- Maintain and proficiency test clinical equipment.
- Display safety consciousness in the clinical setting.
- Establish and enhance good personal rapport with patients and families.
- Comply with infection control principles and sterile procedures.
- Utilize good body mechanics while handling equipment and performing daily job duties.
- Enter concise, accurate, and legible reports of patient care delivery in the patient's electronic medical record.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with coworkers and other clinic personnel.
- High school graduate or equivalent and completion of a medical assistant program (CMA, RMA, NCMA, and CCMA) or 1 year of verified medical office experience as a medical assistant.
- LPN license or EMT certified is a plus.
- Mature reasoning ability and strong attention to detail.
- 2-3 years previous medical office experience preferred.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
- Completion of certification required within 1 year of hire, the following certifications are acceptable: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (CMA); National HealthCareer Association (NHA) (CCMA); American Medical Technologists (AMT) (RMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)(NCMA); American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (NRCMA).
