Position Overview:

  • The Senior Finance Specialist will be essential to the Finance division, guaranteeing precise financial reporting, adherence to regulatory requirements, and delivering critical insights into the organization's financial health. This position demands a comprehensive grasp of accounting standards, robust analytical capabilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively across various departments. The Senior Finance Specialist will report directly to the Finance Director and will be pivotal in facilitating the company’s expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Generate and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring precision and compliance with GAAP.
  • General Ledger Oversight: Manage the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining accurate financial documentation.
  • Audit Coordination: Spearhead the preparation for external audits, ensuring all records and financial documentation are precise and readily accessible.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in formulating annual budgets and financial forecasts, offering insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including tax submissions and financial reporting standards.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify areas for process enhancements within the accounting function and implement best practices to boost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other divisions to provide financial support and insights, including cost and margin analysis, as well as financial planning.
  • Special Initiatives: Engage in and lead special initiatives as directed by the Finance Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite) and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating a proactive and adaptable approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification: CPA or equivalent credential.
  • Advanced Experience: Background in a supervisory or managerial accounting position, with responsibilities that include team oversight and managing intricate financial processes.
  • Industry Background: Experience in the space, defense, or aerospace sectors.
  • ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek, Oracle) and implementing improvements in accounting systems.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Experience in assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes for a department or organization.
  • Audit Leadership: Experience in leading external audit preparations and liaising with auditors.
  • Process Improvement: Proven history of identifying and executing process enhancements in accounting functions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strategic Insight: Ability to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
