Position Overview: The University of Iowa is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nursing Coordinator for our Neurosurgery Clinic. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient care for individuals undergoing neurosurgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to establish and assess care standards for neurosurgical patients, considering their unique conditions and age.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed, adhering to universal safety protocols.
  • Independently manage and streamline patient care across various disciplines, both within the healthcare facility and in the community.
  • Ensure continuity of care by coordinating patient visits, scheduling necessary tests, and following up on results.
  • Facilitate the admission process for neurosurgical patients, overseeing pre and post-operative care.
  • Act as a clinical consultant for the neurosurgical patient demographic, offering expertise on care practices.
  • Engage in the implementation of managed care programs tailored for neurosurgical patients.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and referring physicians to maintain seamless patient care.
  • Perform clinical duties and contribute to special projects as required.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. This position does not require night, holiday, or weekend shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is mandatory.
  • Current Nursing License is required.
  • 1-3 years of nursing experience, with a focus on care coordination.
  • Proven experience in patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related fields is highly regarded.
  • Experience with neurosurgical patients is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in managing patient operations is preferred.
