Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

  • This role involves supporting the Center-Based Early Childhood Site Manager in the execution and enhancement of daily operations, program objectives, and protocols designed to maximize engagement and effectiveness for children, families, and staff. The individual in this position will oversee and assess the performance of center-based educators and provide orientation for newly hired personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Upholding confidentiality regarding information and records related to children and families.
  • Monitoring and evaluating student development and providing feedback to parents/guardians through an application.
  • Collaborating with fellow educators and staff to foster a constructive learning atmosphere.
  • Ensuring a tidy and well-organized classroom environment.
  • Enforcing all safety protocols and ensuring compliance with operational procedures and services of the center.
  • Maintaining accurate records and data on families, outreach efforts, and assisting in program assessments.
  • Formulating a strategy to guarantee the safety of children in both indoor and outdoor settings, completing daily health and safety checklists, and submitting maintenance requests promptly.
  • Inspecting facilities for hazardous conditions and unsafe materials, completing daily safety assessments, and removing any debris or unsafe equipment.
  • Supervising children's activities to ensure their safety.
  • Identifying and reporting accidents, illnesses, and suspected child abuse to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
  • Conducting monthly emergency preparedness drills.
  • Engaging in outreach to community agencies and locations to recruit families for the program's waitlist.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant State, Federal, and Agency Policies & Procedures.
  • Assisting the Site Supervisor and collaborating closely with Family Support Services to guarantee high-quality services for all children and families involved in the program. Conducting two home visits annually for each child to assess needs and keep parents informed about their child's progress.
  • Performing developmental screenings and observations.
  • Acting as a liaison between the center(s) and program administration.
  • Participating actively and working collaboratively as a team member; addressing concerns and resolving issues effectively.
  • Generating, collecting, and maintaining current, accurate, organized written and electronic records and reports as required.
  • Submitting accurate and timely reports and assisting in program evaluations as mandated.
  • Assisting in tracking and managing the budget for classroom supplies, janitorial needs, and food programs.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and other departmental programs.
  • Providing individualized professional development and training as necessary.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of training for Center-Based Teachers.
  • Encouraging parent participation in the Policy Council and Parent Committee meetings.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments of equipment and materials for Center-Based Teachers.
  • Engaging in reflective supervision meetings with the Director and providing reflective supervision for Center-Based staff.
  • Attending relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Full-time flexible hours, with some evening and weekend availability required.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • A minimum of three years of direct classroom teaching experience.
  • Completion of core ECE courses: 6 Infant Units, including Child Development, Early Childhood Education, and Early Childhood Education Curriculum.
  • Current California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit preferred, along with experience in a similar program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Head Start programs is preferred.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS (IF APPLICABLE)

  • Daily driving is required; must possess a valid Driver's License and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • First Aid and Child CPR certifications are required.
  • Health examination is mandatory.
  • Immunizations for Pertussis and measles are required.
  • A negative tuberculosis screening is required.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
