As a vital member of our Mission Management team, you will act as a primary liaison for clients from the early stages of capability assessments through to successful launches and on-orbit activations. You will assist in new business proposals, ensuring alignment from initial requirements verification to mission design, prototype development, and testing. Collaborating closely with a compact team of experts from various disciplines, you will rapidly iterate on deployable solutions to meet all client specifications. Our fast-paced development timelines demand a candidate who is passionate about problem-solving, self-motivated, and eager to contribute to meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all programmatic elements of projects, from contract initiation through integration, testing, launch, and operational phases to guarantee compliance with all contractual obligations.
  • Assist in proposal development to align new initiatives with long-term strategic goals and engineering objectives, ensuring that contract stipulations are feasible.
  • Serve as the principal contact for your client, addressing issues, negotiating requirements, coordinating technical and contractual modifications, and fostering positive relationships.
  • Organize and lead client reviews through cross-company collaboration, preparing and presenting technical content on intricate designs, trade studies, risks, and challenges.
  • Work in conjunction with product engineering teams to assess vehicle readiness and understand how modifications affect requirements, vehicle risk, CONOPs, and launch timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, systems engineering, or operations.
  • 2+ years of experience with U.S. government projects or acquisitions.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in program management or project management.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other aerospace systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, self-directed, and high-pressure startup environment.
  • Experience in spacecraft mission design, development, integration, and/or testing.
  • Demonstrated leadership in management or program oversight.
  • Strong inclination towards innovation in process enhancement and system design.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with direct experience in negotiating technical deliverables or scope.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, with a talent for tailoring communications to diverse audiences.

Additional Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance preferred. Willingness to pursue a clearance if not currently held. An active clearance may provide opportunities to work on sensitive SpaceX missions.
  • Must pass DoD level background checks for access to various government facilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range:

Program Operations Manager: $125,000 - $175,000 per year.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, including company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks are also part of the benefits package. You will accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually. Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave per year.
