Position Type & Compensation: Full-time, non-exempt, with biweekly pay. Compensation ranges from $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Role Responsibilities

The Clubhouse Peer Specialist is responsible for providing support to adults experiencing mental health challenges within a clubhouse model program. Key responsibilities include:

  • Member Engagement:
    • Fostering positive and supportive relationships with clubhouse members to promote a sense of belonging and community, encouraging hope, choice, wellness, and recovery.
    • Organizing activities and actively listening to members facing mental health challenges while maintaining a welcoming environment.
    • Collaborating with members in various program areas, including work ordered day, social/recreational, education, and employment programs.
    • Ensuring that members feel valued and needed by reaching out and establishing productive partnerships.
    • Facilitating tasks and projects to maximize members' skills, talents, and leadership.
    • Adhering to the Standards for Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation as outlined by Clubhouse International.
  • Community Integration:
    • Assisting members in finding and participating in community activities, volunteer opportunities, and appropriate mental health services.
    • Providing education and resources that support self-management, self-determination, and shared decision-making in health care.
  • Advocacy and Collaboration:
    • Helping members connect with community-based services and supports, including primary care and mental health services.
    • Assisting in re-engaging with family, friends, and other natural supports.
    • Modeling advocacy to ensure members have access to necessary services.
  • Crisis Intervention:
    • Being prepared to respond to crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of clubhouse members, and following established protocols.
    • Keeping supervisors informed of any emerging needs or crises among members.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Assisting with administrative tasks, including record-keeping, documentation, and scheduling.
    • Ensuring all documentation is accurate and completed within specified time frames.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Preferred two years of experience in a Clubhouse program or social service agency, particularly with adults experiencing chronic mental illness.
  • Prior training in Trauma-Informed Care is preferred.
Communication Skills
  • Ability to practice empathetic listening and collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting various documents, and capable of writing reports and correspondence.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate with groups.
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn and utilize electronic medical records for confidential record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must pass a Background and OIG check; prior convictions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Washington State Peer Certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Washington State Driver's License and have access to a vehicle.
