What You Will Do:
  • The State and Local Government division offers professionals the chance to assist our governmental clients, including States, Counties, Cities, Higher Education institutions, Non-Profit organizations, and Multi-lateral entities in areas such as: economic growth, sustainability initiatives, disaster recovery strategies, business design, organizational planning, technology strategy, market research, financial modeling, operational assessments, process enhancement, change management, technology deployment, risk management, compliance oversight, and program administration.
  • We provide impactful, high-value solutions to the most challenging business and technology issues faced by our state and local government clients.
  • We convert strategic visions into actionable plans.
What You Will Need:
  • A Bachelor's degree along with a MINIMUM of FIVE (5) years of consulting experience, ideally in housing and community development; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • This position is hybrid, requiring occasional presence at the nearest Guidehouse office.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Preference will be given to candidates residing within a reasonable distance from a Guidehouse office.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and enthusiasm for enhancing state and local government through academic studies and project involvement; preferred advanced degrees include business, information sciences, public policy, urban planning, data analytics, economics, engineering, and mathematics. Applicants with diverse educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven success and expertise in leading client engagements, including conducting baseline evaluations, establishing future state visions, developing implementation strategies, managing multiple stakeholders, and effectively communicating with various audiences.
  • For candidates with prior technology experience, familiarity with project management methodologies, including Agile practices and the systems design life cycle, is beneficial. Additional skills in SQL, data management, and analytics using tools like Python or R are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key aspects of state and local government, covering sub-verticals such as sustainability, urban planning, education, housing, transportation, justice, and administration.
  • Proven success in core management consulting skills, including project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, fostering a positive team environment and managing staff workloads while meeting client expectations, including providing timely and constructive feedback, keeping leadership informed of progress and challenges, and guiding less-experienced team members.
The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,000. Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
