Objective:

The primary aim of this role is to deliver quick, convenient, adaptable, and friendly service to our clientele while adhering to Food Lion's customer service standards.

This position requires a friendly, courteous, and cooperative attitude towards fellow store associates.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly service while engaging with customers to foster a positive shopping atmosphere.
2. Greet each customer and utilize their name whenever feasible.
3. Efficiently unload groceries from carts to the checkout belt, ensuring items are grouped appropriately for easy bagging.
4. Inspect the bottom of carts and under baby seats for any overlooked items before finalizing an order.
5. Adhere to proper bagging protocols based on bag types.
6. Accurately scan items and manage payment transactions in accordance with established practices.
7. Refrain from personal discussions with colleagues when customers are present.
8. Follow established procedures for handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, and other forms of payment.
9. Ensure accurate cash control and manage overrides as necessary.
10. Identify customers needing assistance and offer to help them with their orders.
11. Maintain vigilance and request assistance when necessary to meet customer service standards.
12. Quickly and accurately check prices for items.
13. Exhibit courtesy and helpfulness towards fellow associates.
14. Wear the Food Lion uniform, including an apron and name badge, while on duty, maintaining a neat and clean appearance in line with company dress code.
15. Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and designated areas using the tether strap as per standard practice.
16. Ensure the work station and front end area are tidy and well-presented.
17. Report any register malfunctions to the Customer Service Manager or Manager on Duty.
18. Ensure the MVP savings center KIOSK is stocked with paper and functioning properly.
19. Comply with all company policies, guidelines, and standard practices.
20. Observe and rectify any unsafe conditions that could lead to accidents for associates or customers.
21. Notify Quality Assurance of any cleaning or maintenance issues on the front end.
22. Successfully complete required training and courses.
23. Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn various tasks and technical job requirements.
- Ability to fulfill the technical demands of cashiering and service center operations.
- Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Demands:

- Proficient in using computers and communication systems necessary for job functions.
- Capable of performing repetitive hand and arm motions.
- Able to bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Required to stand for the entire shift, with frequent short walks.
