Position Overview:
The Patient Service Representative serves as the primary point of contact for patients at Palomar Health Medical Group.
This role involves welcoming and registering patients, managing phone communications, accurately documenting patient data, and facilitating a seamless patient experience.
The PSR is tasked with scheduling appointments for walk-in patients, verifying insurance details, clarifying billing processes, collecting payments, preparing and filing patient documentation, and handling medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and register patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, assisting them with self-service kiosks as needed.
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards for patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
- Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients and referring providers, addressing inquiries efficiently.
- Ensure patients complete necessary forms, secure required signatures, and accurately input registration information.
- Verify insurance and personal health information at the time of service, including scanning relevant documents into the patient’s file.
- Conduct outbound calls to follow up on missed appointments and assist with various administrative tasks.
- Oversee patient flow by monitoring daily schedules and coordinating with back-office staff as necessary.
- Collect patient payments, explain billing policies, and clarify financial responsibilities.
- Prepare and maintain patient forms while safeguarding personal health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Reconcile daily transactions and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Propose enhancements to operational processes aimed at improving patient satisfaction and efficiency.
- Manage and respond to messages received through the patient portal.
- Act as the department's receptionist for external vendors and contractors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in a customer service role, ideally within a healthcare environment.
Familiarity with insurance plans, patient benefits, and third-party requirements is preferred. Proficiency in telephone communication and computer skills is essential.Job Requirements:
