Job Overview

AGC Inc. is a premier design/build mechanical contracting firm seeking a skilled Construction Cost Estimator to enhance our project management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating plumbing, mechanical piping, medical piping, specialty gas piping, and chemical waste piping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for plumbing and piping projects, encompassing labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct expenses.
  • Analyze plans and specifications to accurately define the scope of work.
  • Issue requests and gather pricing from suppliers of materials and equipment.
  • Solicit competitive quotes from subcontractors for all estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers to clarify any special requirements or requested breakdowns for bids, ensuring a thorough review of your estimates.
  • Provide insightful recommendations to project managers beyond the standard itemized takeoff.
  • Conduct conceptual estimating to support budget proposals effectively.
  • Assist in developing value engineering alternatives, considering cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
  • Help maintain a record of estimates and project outcomes for future budgeting purposes.
  • Participate in job walks as necessary.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction sector.
  • Proficient in estimating software, including Trimble and similar systems.
  • Capable of interpreting computerized cost data and blueprints.
  • Skilled in preparing estimates for time, materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Effective written communication skills for collaboration with project managers, field staff, and colleagues.
