IT SOX Internal Controls Analyst

Location: Toledo, OH, US

Purpose of the Role

The IT SOX Internal Controls Analyst plays a crucial role within Owens Corning's Global Finance, Operations & Reporting (GFOR) team, focusing on enhancing internal controls awareness, knowledge, and compliance across the organization. This position collaborates with leaders, Global Information Systems (GIS), and both internal and external auditors. The analyst will be responsible for introducing innovative ideas and methodologies based on best practices related to Information Technology General Controls (ITGC), IT dependencies, and Information Produced by the Entity (IPE). Additionally, the role aims to create efficiencies by providing accurate data regarding management testing coverage, outcomes, and sustainability for ITGC testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the annual assessment of in-scope applications for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) management testing.
  • Conduct design and operational effectiveness testing for SOX IT General Controls (ITGC) with guidance from the Global Internal Controls Leader.
  • Prepare comprehensive and high-quality work papers that substantiate management testing conclusions within set deadlines.
  • Incorporate feedback from submitted work papers and demonstrate continuous improvement in documentation and testing.
  • Effectively communicate testing status and findings while sharing knowledge with team members.
  • Facilitate ITGC walkthrough meetings with control owners to gather evidence and understand processes.
  • Support key reports testing, critical spreadsheet testing, IPE governance, and special projects.

Promote IT Internal Control Awareness

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with GIS to ensure that internal control changes effectively mitigate risks.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations while maintaining an independent perspective.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to learn about management testing processes and methodologies.
  • Draft and communicate control deficiencies, performing root cause analysis with support.
  • Collaborate with GIS and Service Organization owners to implement ITGCs, Complementary User Entity Controls, and IPE best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in public accounting, consulting audit firms, or internal audit.
  • 1-3 years of experience auditing information technology control processes.
  • Professional certifications such as CISA, CPA, or CIA are preferred, along with big-four audit experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of SOX regulations.
  • Familiarity with IT risk and general information security concepts.
  • Knowledge of core IT general control processes, including Information Security and Change Management.
  • Proficiency in auditing/testing SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to ethical behavior and maintaining objectivity.
