Job Overview

Position Summary

The individual in this role will oversee the laboratory testing activities and personnel responsible for analyzing and reporting on a variety of products, including crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, and petrochemicals, as well as LPG and LNG gases.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients by clarifying laboratory analysis processes.
  • Verify the authenticity of laboratory analysis certificates.
  • Manage client orders for submitted samples; monitor job progress and communicate updates to clients.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of sampling methodologies.
  • Ensure adherence to the Laboratory Quality Assurance Manual and Safety Protocols.
  • Conduct testing and analysis, along with other assigned duties.
  • Oversee quality control of laboratory solutions and standards.
  • Consistently uphold the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Supervise timekeeping for direct reports.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, preferably with a focus on chemistry or a related discipline. (Required)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a management or supervisory capacity. (Required)
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas sector is preferred. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and calibration processes.

  • Ability to work with various chemicals, petrochemicals, and petroleum products.
  • Strong communication, writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion.
  • Capacity to build and lead a cohesive team, fostering collaboration to achieve objectives.
  • Aptitude for synthesizing information from diverse sources into actionable solutions.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, moving, and sitting.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Constant talking and hearing; occasional tasting or smelling.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
