Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Orthopedic Physical Therapy Assistant Specialist to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas.

This is a full-time position that requires a graduate degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program and current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Certification in Basic Life Support is also required.

About the Job

The successful candidate will perform routine physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed physical therapist, document patient progress, and provide training and guidance to students and interns. The specialist will also assist with program development, present relevant topics in professional literature, and promote individual professional growth and development.

We offer a competitive salary of approximately $55,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including dental, vision, employee assistance programs, and retirement plans.

Responsibilities
  • Implement physical therapy treatment programs under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
  • Provide physical therapy services to patients and modify treatments as allowed by the plan of care.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate effectively with the supervising physical therapist, patients, and caregivers.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with program development, present topics in professional literature, and promote individual professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.
  • Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing.
