Shift: Second Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Compensation: Up to $35.25 per hour based on verified work history

Key Responsibilities

The Area Supervisor is accountable for the safe and efficient management of the designated department or area during their assigned shift. This role involves overseeing labor, productivity, maintenance, and engineering to fulfill customer production demands and plant objectives. Effective communication with various support departments is essential, including Materials, HR, Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and DOS. The position is primarily scheduled for the second shift, with potential adjustments to third shift as production needs evolve.

Essential Duties
  • Support the Business Unit Area Manager in operational tasks, including acting in their absence.
  • Assist in setting and achieving goals for direct reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Provide necessary resources, coaching, and mentorship to direct reports to facilitate goal attainment.
  • Coordinate activities within the department to meet production, service, inventory, and delivery standards.
  • Supervise union employees across various roles within the department.
  • Ensure all employees adhere to safety and efficiency standards, delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to identify focus areas for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production metrics closely, addressing any issues promptly with the team.
  • Track overtime and ensure equipment maintenance is performed as scheduled.
  • Manage time and attendance responsibilities accurately.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and address issues following established protocols.
  • Ensure timely completion of production-related documentation by direct reports.
  • Collaborate with the Area Manager on the Open Issues list to develop action plans.
  • Report area KPI as required and participate in daily shift meetings.
  • Facilitate effective shift handoffs and engage in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and union agreements.
  • Work closely with supporting departments to optimize operational throughput.
  • Adjust production schedules based on performance and customer requirements.
  • Develop a cross-trained team to maintain efficiency during absences.
  • Implement and uphold the Corporate Operating System and quality standards.
  • Drive adherence to IATF requirements for the Business Unit.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend changes to management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Previous supervisory experience managing a team of 15 or more employees is advantageous.
  • Strong team-building and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while achieving desired outcomes.
  • Skills in motivating teams and fostering innovative ideas.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
  • Proficient in data analysis and computer applications.
  • Knowledge of IATF or TS-16949 standards is preferred.
  • Union experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Education
  • Associate Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum of 3 years).
