Position Summary

This position is available with Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.


Key Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Garage Foreman or Supervisor, the individual in this role will oversee and collaborate with team members engaged in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and automotive equipment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, supervising, and collaborating with staff involved in the maintenance, repair, and testing of motor vehicles and automotive machinery, as well as hydraulic and power-operated tools.
  • Coordinating schedules and supervising work, while assisting in the enhancement of garage methodologies, maintenance testing protocols, and operational practices.
  • Reporting any unusual or problematic conditions that arise during work to higher management.
  • Implementing necessary measures to ensure the safety of the public, employees, and equipment.
  • Assigning tasks to employees based on their job classifications.
  • Overseeing, supervising, and assisting with inspections and tests of equipment upon completion of work.

Inspection and Reporting:

Responsibilities also include:

  • Examining disassembled equipment to identify parts that require replacement or repair.
  • Creating necessary reports, schedules, and records related to inspections, maintenance, repair work, time, materials, and other relevant items.
  • Originating requisitions and coordinating the purchase of materials and parts as needed.
  • Training and supervising assigned employees.
  • Performing the duties of an Equipment Mechanic-A.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a solid understanding of the responsibilities of an Equipment Mechanic-A, along with the following knowledge and skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the methods and practices within the Garage Section.
  • In-depth understanding of advancements in automotive equipment and the associated repair practices.
  • Ability to operate, instruct, and teach the operation of all equipment, including wreckers.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operational principles and proper application of safety and firefighting equipment.
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License and the ability to pass the Company's driver assessment.
  • A willingness to acquire additional knowledge and skills necessary for the role through training and development opportunities.
