POSITION SUMMARY:
The individual in this role is accountable for a variety of service-related support functions, including but not limited to the repair, maintenance, and performance qualification of assigned products.
The products include company-owned demonstration equipment, instruments returned from clients, and customer-owned products.
This position entails the repair, maintenance, and installation of designated products.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Providing repair and maintenance support on assigned products (Daily).
Accurate documentation and reporting of all repairs and product failures, including design change and improvement recommendations when applicable (Daily).
Timely submission of all required paperwork and documentation (Daily).
Occasional in-house bench repair work may be performed, although the majority of work will involve field service calls under limited supervision (Daily).
Day and overnight travel within the local region, including possible assignments in neighboring areas (Weekly).
Providing customers and field personnel with telephone technical support, repair parts shipments, and necessary documentation for instrument repairs, maintenance, and installations (Daily).
SCOPE:
This position primarily focuses on learning to deliver quality, efficient service to our customers while supporting regional staff in similar efforts.
Engineers will be assigned specific territories/customers as they develop their service skills.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent should be adept at effectively troubleshooting and repairing instrument issues, performing installations, and providing customer and staff training as needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent should possess at least an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred. A minimum of four (4) years of field or in-house experience in analytical instrumentation repair is required. Proficiency in at least five product line areas is expected.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, sitting/driving for extended periods, and pulling/pushing of instrumentation/parts.
The incumbent must be able to lift up to 40 pounds routinely throughout the workday and may be required to assist in lifting heavier equipment.
Hand dexterity is necessary for using and grasping hand tools for instrument repairs.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
This position requires adherence to proper housekeeping and safety standards, particularly concerning lab safety protocols.
Appropriate use of personal protective equipment and safety devices is mandated by corporate safety policies and customer-specific requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is primarily field-based, with occasional work in the service repair lab. Most workdays will involve traveling (day and overnight) to customer locations within the region.
The position requires the ability to work independently on projects while also collaborating as part of a team.
The incumbent may work at various sites throughout the day to meet the needs of Shimadzu customers.
Extra hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
