Job Overview

The Quality Technician I is accountable for assessing, measuring, and auditing components, machinery, and processes. This position involves gathering data, producing reports, and creating tools that facilitate the effective utilization and comprehension of information aimed at enhancing quality and minimizing costs. The role encompasses various aspects of the Quality Engineering function.



Key Responsibilities

Quality Laboratory

  • Proficient in the technologies and systems utilized in the quality laboratory to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Comprehension of technical drawings, specifications, and best practices in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Capable of acquiring skills in programming measurement instruments.
  • Aware of the requirements for calibrated instruments.
  • Understanding of tooling functions and calibration processes.

Inspection Implementation

  • Collaborate with quality engineering, design, and manufacturing engineering to ascertain if products or components conform to specifications. Conduct inspections and deliver summarized findings that are easily interpretable. In cases of non-compliance, investigate and propose modifications to components or processes to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluate and suggest changes to preliminary engineering designs for quality enhancement and cost efficiency.

Final Product Audits

  • Conduct audits of finished products with appropriate documentation to effectively relay part/process evaluations to relevant departments in design, manufacturing, procurement, or service.

Quality Data Analysis

  • Engage in vendor assessments, audits, and certifications.
  • Stay informed about trends and advancements in product design and manufacturing processes that can influence quality and cost. Participate in the planning and implementation of these trends and advancements.

Non-Conformance Management

  • Take part in the identification, evaluation, communication, and resolution of non-conforming components or products. Recommend and apply improved process controls as necessary.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues, measure components, and provide recommendations to address and/or rectify such issues.



Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years
  • Travel: Less than 10%
  • Extensive proficiency in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Competence in metrology
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to adhere to written instructions
